How to | Apply for NBI Clearance

Since the implementation of the online system since April last year, the application for an NBI Clearance has been more convenient and efficient which helped eliminate the long queues at the NBI outlets. In the effort to fully eliminate red tape, all payments are now done through various outlets (banks, bayad center, etc).

Applying for NBI Clearance:
1. Register an account online on the NBI Clearance website.
Click on the   SIGN UP NOW   link and select your application type from the pop out menu. Choose
NEW   if this your first time applying for a clearance. Otherwise, pick   RENEW  .

2. Fill out the application form.
Make sure that all the information you provide are correct because this will be used in your clearance. After completing the form, tick the box at the bottom to agree on the Terms of Service. The full text of the terms will pop up. Click on the   AGREE   button at the bottom of the page.
Finally, click on the SIGN IN.
3. Check your confirmation email.
After successfully registering on the site, you will be sent a confirmation email to the personal email you provided. Open your email client and open the confirmation email to activate your account. Click on the   ACTIVATE ACCOUNT  .
4. Sign in.
If you have confirmed your account, you can now sign in on the NBI Clearance website and finally apply for a clearance. Fill out all the remaining personal information necessary for your clearance application such as education, occupation, weight, height and complexion.
5. Click on APPLY FOR CLEARANCE.
After completing the form, you will be directed to the Application page where you can see all the data you provided. Make sure you verify all the information before clicking the   APPLY   button.
If you see any discrepancy or errors, click on   EDIT INFORMATION  .
6. Have a Valid ID.
In the pop-up page, you will be asked what ID you will present on your appointment. Write the kind of ID you will bring, ie. passport, license. Here are the accepted valid IDs by the NBI:
  • Valid passport
  • Voter’s ID
  • Driver’s License
  • PRC License
  • SSS ID
  • GSIS UMID
  • Postal ID
  • School ID
  • TIN ID
  • Philhealth ID
  • Authenticated Birth Certificate
  • Alien Cert of Registration
  • Senior Citizen
  • Previous Copy of NBI Clearance
Finally, click   I AGREE  . An Important Reminder will pop up. Be sure to read this before hitting the
  CLOSE   button.
7. Schedule you appointment!
After lodging your application, you can now pick your desired schedule for your appointment. First choose the NBI Clearance Branch where you want to have your appointment and select your preferred date and time (either AM or PM).

On the right sidebar, choose the correct Purpose (Local or Abroad) and Purpose Detail for your NBI Clearance. The first time I applied for a clearance was for the new company I work on so I chose Local Employment.
8. Payment and Fees
You can also see on the sidebar the summary of your appointment schedule as well as the fees you have to pay for the clearance. The clearance itself is P115 but there is an added fee of P25 for the online service (P140 total). At the bottom of the sidebar, choose the most convenient payment option for you. There are 4 options available:
  • Banks  - Over-the-counter. You need to go to your chosen bank to pay the fees.
  • Banks - Online. You can pay through the online banking service of your bank.
  • Mobile Payment. Pay using Gcash service by Globe but this has additional service fee.
  • Bayad Centers - You can pay at various Bayad Center outlets or partners.
Note that there are additional service fees for any of your chosen payment options so you will pay P140 (for the NBI) + corresponding service fee depending on your payment option.
9. Payment Instruction.
After selecting your preferred payment method, you will be shown a Payment Instruction page for your reference. This is very important so you must save these details either by printing, screenshot, or writing on a piece of paper.
The details you have to note are the Account Number, Account Name, Reference Number and the final amount to be paid.
You can now pay at your chosen payment method. Be sure to keep a copy of your proof of transactions such as receipts, deposit slips, etc.
10. Print your NBI Clearance Application form.
Log in to the NBI Clearance website again using your registered account. Click on the
TRANSACTION   page on the left side menu. At the top, you will see the status of your payment, either Pending or Paid. If you have already paid, it usually takes a few minutes for your status to be updated.
You can now print your NBI Clearance form. Click on the   DETAILS   button and click   PRINT APPLICATION FORM  .
11. Show up for your appointment.
Visit the NBI center or satellite outlet on your scheduled date and don’t forget to bring your application form and two (2) valid IDs including the one you specified. Wear the appropriate dress code allowed, it varies per outlet so that you won't have any problem.
Expect queues so you should come early. During your appointment, you just need to have your biometrics taken (fingerprints, picture, and signature) and you are done!
12. Claiming your NBI Clearance.
After taking the biometrics, you can now proceed to the Releasing Section. This is the exciting part. If you got a 'No Hit' (and lucky for you), you can claim your NBI Clearance then and there. However, if you get a 'With Hit' status, you will be advised to return on a later date. Usually, you will be asked to come back after 1-2 weeks.

Frequently and not so frequently asked questions

Are there still queues at the outlets even if I have a scheduled appointment?
Yes. There will be queues in all outlets, even the ones in the province.
Tip: Schedule your appointment at the NBI Main Office. Yes the lines will be long because this is the central office, but they have the most number of servicing counters so the queue moves fast. It took me less than an hour to get my NBI Clearance at the main office.
